Dunbia have been supplying the finest quality meat since way back when in 1976. What began as butchers in Moygashel, Co Tyrone has since grown into the multinational food company it is today, specialising in beef, pork and lamb products. They supply meat to a huge range of retailers, food services and wholesalers in the UK and even export throughout Europe and even further afield.
The Hereford Scheme
Hereford beef is becoming more and more popular in the UK thanks to its excellent eating quality (you can’t beat that natural marbling!). The cattle are also preferred because of their docile nature and their ease of calving. Dunbia went into partnership with The Co-Operative and launched the Hereford Scheme in 2013. The scheme involved a bespoke group of Hereford producers that are audited each year to assess their achievements in animal welfare, efficiency and sustainability. Each member also has to meet certain criteria to be welcomed into the group.
What makes Dunbia so deserving of our Retailers of the Month award is their dedication to the highest and strictest standards of animal welfare and technical quality that follows their product from the field to the plate. The beef that is used by Dunbia always come from Farm Assured sources and their livestock is predominately reared on a grass based diet.
